Terms of use

Applies to the Punakynä service (punakyna.axorion.fi) and its Mac app. Updated: 10 October 2026.

The service

Punakynä is a manuscript editor in which an author can write, invite commenters and follow the change history. The service is provided by Axorion Oy (business ID 3013176-5), support@axorion.fi. The service is in beta, is invitation-based, and is provided as is.

Account and roles

You sign in with your email address. You are responsible for the use of your account. The right to create your own manuscripts is granted separately: you can request access with the form on the front page, and the administrator approves or rejects the request. An author is responsible for whom they invite as a commenter.

Content

You own your texts and your rights to them remain with you. You grant the service the right to store and display the content solely to provide the service and to the people you invite. You may not store unlawful content in the service, or content you have no right to distribute.

Commenters

A commenter does not change the author’s text directly; their suggestions take effect only after the author accepts them. A commenter may not share a manuscript they receive with others without the author’s permission.

AI

AI analysis and AI assistance are optional. The AI does not change your text unless you accept a suggestion yourself. Observations and suggestions produced by AI may be incorrect or incomplete, and they do not replace your own judgment or a professional editor. AI analysis sends manuscript text to an external language-model service only with your separate consent (see the privacy policy).

You can connect your account to an AI app (MCP). The app acts with your permissions, and you can disconnect it at any time in the service’s settings. You are responsible for which app you authorize.

Mac app

The Mac app stores manuscripts on your device and can, if you wish, synchronize them with the web service. Downloading the installation package requires signing in and the author permission. You are responsible for backing up the data on your own device.

Availability and backups

The server shuts down on its own when idle and wakes up on request in about a minute. We aim to take backups, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation or that data will be preserved. Keep your own copy of your manuscript (Word export is available).

Liability

The service is provided without warranties to the extent permitted by law. We are not liable for indirect damages. Mandatory consumer protection law remains in force.

Changes and termination

We may change the terms and the service by notifying you in the service. You can stop using the service and ask for your account to be deleted at any time. We may close an account for use that breaches these terms.
